The Guitar orchestra ‘Centocorde’ (formerly il “Gruppone”) was created upon an idea of Giovanni Campia and Guido Muneratto (present artistic director).
Conceived as a didactic experience, it has been enlarged by the years, with higher profile and skill members whose technical mastery and musical personality lead the Orchestra to develop a sophisticate and eclectic repertoire with a high standard of playing.
The prizes obtained in several courses and national festivals (Varenna 1995, Voghera 1999) and the participation to numerous and important concert seasons ( Milan, Natural History Museum, Rosetum theatre. Palazzina Liberty, etc) witness for the highest quality level and reputation reached by the Orchestra during these years.
In this long and articulated growing process, the orchestra has never forgotten its original motivation: the pleasure to make music together; even today Centocorde prefers an intimate dimension, which informs the style of its executions.
Since 1995 Centocorde works in collaboration with major Artists operating in various expressive areas to commonly develop a new way of performing music melting the traditional concert with other artistic experience.
The main results of this research have been:
- Music and image (1996): multimedia show with the participation of visual artists, mimers and the
contribution of several video-installations;
- Dancing sounds (1998): unusual approach mixing music and choreographic action;
- Voices in the time (2000): a wise blend of music and words;
- Tales in ‘fingers-tip’ (2002): dedicated to the children, with the participation of a story teller and
the puppets of Teatro del Corvo;
- Guitars and Dancers Suite (2004): in collaboration with Teatrodanza of the Scuola d’Arte
Drammatica ‘Paolo Grassi’;
As all other ‘conventional’ Orchestras, Centocorde proposes also a classical programme; thanks to the various backgrounds of its members and the passion of their playing the audience are led to a new lovely experience with guitar music.
The ‘Colour of the Guitar ‘ is an articulated review of the twentieth century music; ‘Pasion y Danza’ is focused on Spanish and Latin America sounds while ‘ the ‘Charm of the Guitar’ is a refined combination between classical and popular songs.
Common matrix of these performances is to have the audiences by the hand offering them the opportunity to play an active and aware role in the musical event.
